THEME FOR 2016: “THAT I MAY KNOW HIM”

MESSAGE FOR 2016

It has been said that, “The noblest employment of man’s mind is to study, to know about His Creator.”  In Jeremiah 9:23, 24 the ancient prophet says, 23 “Thus saith the LORD, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment and righteousness in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”  The most important question is do I know Him this well?

The experiential knowledge of the Holy One is so important to our eternal life that John the beloved apostle recorded in the Gospel of Christ as saying, “And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the true God and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.” (John 17:3kjv).

From the forgoing it is not surprising that, the scale of activities highlighted on the international, national, and local news seem to target to engross the mind of man.  The purpose is to manipulate us to consign knowledge of the Holy One to irreverent wilderness of human thoughts, words, and actions.   Some one must be purposefully responsible for this.  Who could this be?  Your guess is as right as mine.  It is none other than the archenemy of both God and man.

The wise man tells us, “The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.”  There can be no better knowledge sought after by the prudent and the wise than the knowledge of the Holy One.  For we read, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” ( Proverbs 18:15; 9:10 kjv).

As you ponder on the above, beloved of the LORD, pray that the Spirit of God may awaken a strong thirst in your heart to follow after to know Him.  The psalmist says, As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.  My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:1, 2 kjv).

Let’s make God first, last and best in 2016.  God bless you.
